The PvE Arena
Once an hour the gates open, a voice counts you down from ten, and for twenty minutes the arena floor fills with everything that wants you dead. You are not scored on surviving. You are scored on what you kill.
At a glance
Every hour. Doors open on the hour, the fight runs from :10 to :30, and the
rest of the hour is quiet. You need Prestige 1 or higher, and up to 30 fighters
get in. Join with /pvearena.
How an hour runs
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| :00 | Doors open. /pvearena join teleports you straight onto the floor at your own scattered spawn point. |
| :10 | The Gladiator speaks. Fifteen seconds of countdown, then the first wave. |
| :10 - :30 | The fight. Waves every ten seconds, four bosses on a timer. |
| :30 | Scores are settled, rewards are paid, everyone is sent home. |
| :30 - :00 | Quiet. The arena is empty and anyone standing in it is moved out. |
The server shouts a warning at thirty, fifteen, five, two and one minutes before the fight starts, so you do not have to watch the clock.
You can join late, and it still counts
Joining stays open for the whole twenty minutes. Walk in at minute twelve and every kill from that point scores normally. You will have missed a lot of them, which is the only penalty.
The Gladiator
Nobody knows who he is. He is not in the arena, he is not a mob you can find, and he has never said anything except the same eighteen seconds at the start of every fight. Recordings below.
The full opening, exactly as you hear it on the floor
Eighteen seconds: the call, five seconds of nothing, the count, and the word that starts it.
“Prepare for battle.”
“Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.”
One second per number, and the room answers each one. Nothing has spawned yet - this is the only calm you get.
“FIGHT!”
The first wave is released on this word, not after it.
What you fight
Two things are happening at once: an endless wave pool that grows, and four bosses that arrive on a schedule regardless of how the waves are going.
The waves
A wave every ten seconds, spawning anywhere across the arena rather than in one corner, and dripped in one mob at a time so it arrives as a stream instead of a wall.
| Mob | At full size | Points per kill |
|---|---|---|
| Zealot | 6 per wave | 1 |
| Stalker | 4 per wave | 1 |
| Ascended Brute | 3 per wave | 2 |
Wave one is a single Zealot. Waves start at a fifth of those numbers and climb to full over the first minute, so walking in at the bell does not mean walking into everything at once. There is a ceiling of 150 live wave mobs; past that, waves wait for you to thin them out.
The bosses
Escalating, and the ceiling does not apply to them - a boss arrives on time no matter how crowded the floor is.
| Minutes in | Boss | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Knight of Ash | 25 |
| 10 | Aureon Warden | 30 |
| 15 | Dark Prince | 35 |
| 18 | The Giant | 50 |
Scoring is weighted, not a kill count
Every mob carries a point value, and the board ranks you on points. This is deliberate. A raw kill count would mean the winner is whoever farmed the weakest mob fastest, and the four bosses - the actual fight - would be worth ignoring. One Giant is worth fifty Zealots.
Points you have already earned always count. Leave early, die, log off: your score for that run stands. There is no survival bonus and no penalty for going down.
Rewards
Kills pay on the spot and the run pays at the end.
While you fight
Every mob gives 5 server XP toward your level, plus its normal experience orbs. Arena mobs drop no items at all - they are there to be killed, not looted.
At the bell
A shared pot is built from turnout - 3,000 coins per fighter who scored - and split across the top half of the board. The bottom half gets nothing.
| Where you place | Share of the pot | Coins each | Crate keys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top 10% | 50% | 5,000 - 60,000 | 1 rare |
| Next 15% | 30% | 2,000 - 20,000 | 1 rare |
| Next 25% | 20% | 1,000 - 8,000 | 2 common |
| Bottom 50% | - | nothing | - |
What that means in practice: in a ten-fighter run the winner takes 15,000, second and third take 4,500 each, fourth and fifth take 3,000 each. In a full thirty-fighter run the top three take 15,000 each, the next five take 5,400, and the next seven take 2,571.
Whoever tops the board is announced to the whole server and goes into the Hall of Fame -
/pvearena top.
Small runs pay a minimum, not a fraction
Each band has a floor. A three-person fight still pays its winner 5,000 even though a straight percentage of that pot would be less. Turning up when nobody else does is not punished.
Rules of the floor
- You are faster in here. Everyone in the fight gets Speed for as long as they are in it. The arena is large and the mobs are spread across all of it; without it half the floor would be too far away to matter. It lapses on its own the moment you leave.
- Fighters cannot hurt each other. The arena world has PvP on for the duelling arenas, so friendly fire is cancelled between anyone currently in the event.
- You get your own world border. The edge of the arena is a real wall for you and nobody else, so you cannot wander out mid-fight by accident.
- Wander in outside the event and you get moved. Anyone standing in the box who is not in the fight is sent back to spawn, including if you log in there.
- Leaving is allowed.
/pvearena leavesends you home and keeps your score. There is no penalty and no re-entry cost.
